چکیده

Cloud point extraction (CPE) was used for the preconcentration of Hg (II) by spectrophotometric method. In this complex, Triton-X-114,Cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) and NaCl were applied as the non ionic surfactant, sensitizing agent and electrolyte respectively. The lower limit of detection (LOD) acquired under the optimum conditions was 1.10μg L-1. Therelative standard deviations(RSDs) for ten replicate determinations at 250 and 750 μg L-1 were 1.98 and 2.21% respectively. A linear calibration curve in the range of 5-1100 μg L-1 with a correlation coefûcient of 0.9989 (n = 20) was acquired. The least square method was A = 2.01 ×10CHg + 1.34 ×10-2,where A is the absorbance and CHg shows the concentration of Hg (II) in μg L -1.In the present work, we have used CPE to spectrophotometric determination of mercury (II) in water samples from the rivers located in industrial and nonindustrial areas and also spring water and tab water as the purified and unpurified water samples respectively.

Separation, Preconcentration and determination of Hg (II) Ion in Water Samples by Cloud Point Extraction Technique Coupled with UV-VIS Spectrophotometry using a New Complexing Agent

In this study a cloud-point extraction process using non-ionic surfactant Triton X-114 for extraction of mercury (II) from aqueous solutions was developed. The method is based on the complex formation of Hg (II) with benzyl (pyridin-2-yl) methylcarbamodithioate at pH 5.5. After preconcentration and dilution of the surfactant-rich phase, the enriched analyte was determined by s...

Spectrophotometric determination of uranium in water samples after cloud point extraction using nonionic surfactant Triton X-114

A cloud point extraction process using the nonionic surfactant Triton X-114 to extracturanium from aqueous solutions was investigated. The method is based on the complexationreaction of uranium with Arsenazo III and micelle-mediated extraction of the complex. Theoptimal extraction and reaction conditions (e.g., pH, reagent concentration, effect of time) werestudied, and the analytical character...

Micelle Mediated Preconcentration of Mercury in pH Controlled Mode for Trace Analysis

A micell-mediated phase separation method for preconcentration of ultra-trace quantities of mercury as a prior step to its determination by UV-Vis spectrophotometry has been developed. The method is based on Hg(II)-dithizone complex formation in alkaline aqueous solution, and extraction of this Hg(II)-dithizone secondary complex into the surfactant-rich phase of the non-ionic surfactant oct...

Selective Cloud Point Extraction and Preconcentration of Copper by the Use of Dithizone as a Complexing Agent

The aim of this work was to develop a selective cloud point extraction method for the separation and preconcentration of copper(II) prior to spectrophotometric determination. For this purpose dithizone was used as a complexing agent and the experimental solution was acidified with sulfuric acid. Triton X-114 was used as a surfactant and after phase separation, based on the cloud point of th...
